From:   Brian Muldon

Dear Parents/Guardians,

This letter is to notify you that Kispiox Community School will be open tomorrow, Monday, February 8th, 2021 for regular classes.  The Kispiox bridge is still damaged and there will not be an update until tomorrow morning at 8am as to what is happening.  This means that the Kispiox bus will still be running in Kispiox for Kispiox students to attend school.  However, there will be no school bus to Glen Vowell or the Gitanmaax/Hazelton area.  There is a pod (Bubble) set up in Glen Vowell at the Salvation Army for Glen Vowell students.  The Gitanmaax/Hazelton area students can continue with online/remote learning until there is more clarity on what is happening with Kispiox Bridge.   There has been a lot of damage to the bridge and the next steps will be determined by the Ministry of Highways, Dawson Road Maintenance, and Kispiox Band Office, so our decisions are predicated on what happens to the bridge next.   For parents and guardians from the Gitanmaax/Hazelton area, you may be a little hesitant to send your child/children to school and that is perfectly understandable.  We will work on getting packages out to your children and continuing with online/remote learning.  If there are any changes or improvements with the bridge, you will be notified.  These times have been trying and difficult, so be patient, support one another, take care of yourselves and your family.

Sincerely,

Brian Muldon

Principal
